What makes you smile?

What makes you smile?

What is it to live your authentic life? My passions are helping people, making people see the magic and beauty within themselves, making people laugh and feeding people. That’s why I’m a coach, comic and cookie maker… really, I am!

Vision: I love to champion and support people who are passionate! I feel most connected to people following their passion – when I see their eyes light up when they are doing what they are meant to be doing with their lives. I remember being a mini-coach at the age of 8, helping my classmates with their challenges. I root for the underdog, and I believe that everyone is fully capable of achieving their life’s joy – with determination, focus and connection to their personal values.

Background:  I am thankful for my family, for they have shaped who I am. I am a CODA, a Child of Deaf Adults (both parents), and I have a Deaf sister. As a child, I interpreted things well beyond my years, and did so effortlessless and fluidly. As an adult, I see what a gift it was that I could be a bridge between worlds. I share some of my coda experiences in my stand up comedy – there is humour in all things.

Education: My coach training is from The Coaches Training Institute based out of San Francisco, CA. I will be a Professional Certified Coach in Fall 2010. I received my Bachelor of Arts (English) from Simon Fraser University in 2001. I enjoy the every day teachings life has to offer.

Volunteer work: I have been involved with the Canadian Association of the Deaf’s “Deaf Women Leadership Training” program, as a hard of hearing mentee, developing and providing workshops in Vancouver for the Deaf community and to raise awareness in the hearing community about important issues that Deaf people experience. I continue to provide feedback for this program, and am focused on providing pro bono workshops and coaching from my new home in San Francisco.

Things I am very proud of: Crossing the finish line of my first half marathon, performing comedy in front of 300 people, and being brave enough to relocate to a new city in a new country. Until August 2010, I lived in Vancouver with my husband of 14 years. We have relocated to San Francisco, and I consider myself lucky to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
